Most prospective racehorse owners want to know how much it costs to put a horse in training with the Dee Hotton Stable. You will get a quote from me because I believe in being straight forward and honest about the costs associated with owning and racing, a Standardbred racehorse. Below you will find my current daily rates and probable additional expenses for putting a horse in training at the Dee Hotton Stable. There are no secrets and no hidden expenses.
Daily Rate
$33.00 a day when I am stabled in Ohio at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. This
will cover the expenses for feed, equipment, a groom caretaker, stall rent,
and training.
$35.00 a day when I am stabled in North Carolina at Pinehurst Race Track. This will cover the expenses for feed, equipment, a groom caretaker, and training. NOTE: Stall rent is not covered and you will be charged an additional *$150 a month for stall rental when stabled at Pinehurst.
Additional Expenses Might Include
Blacksmith fee
Veterinary fee
Stall Rent fee *(Pinehurst, NC Only)
Shipping-Transportation fee (calculated per mile shipped)
Race Paddock fee
Driving percentage fee (usually 5% of money earned per race)
Training percentage fee (usually 5% of money earned per race)
